Justice Equality Diversity and Inclusion at B Lab - B Lab UK

Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) at B Lab

JEDI is central to all of B Lab’s operations.

What does JEDI stand for?

Justice dismantles barriers to resources and opportunities in society so that all individuals and communities can live a full and dignified life.  We strive to embed justice into our work to catalyse equitable outcomes for all.

Equity is critical to attracting and attaining the best results in business.  We are committed to holding ourselves accountable for policies, processes, and programs that appreciate differences and create a fair, safe, and just working environment for staff.

Diversity in age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, neurocognition, socio-economic background, and lived experience is proven to make organisations more effective.  We celebrate varied points of view and approaches to our work.

Inclusion accelerates culture shifts by ensuring all voices are included in the conversation.  We strive to build a culture where everyone feels their perspectives are valued.

Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are not just words.  They are the framework for how we build teams, cultivate leaders, and make business a force for good.

Global JEDI action

In 2020, a Global Advisory Group was created to facilitate the exchange of JEDI-related information and programmes across our global B Lab and Sistema B organisations.  A review of the B Impact Assessment and our Standards is currently underway, with the goal of identifying updates critical to realising our JEDI and anti-racist commitments.  Discrimination, oppression, and injustice of all kinds is both global and hyper-local.

Our global anti racism stance

As a global network, B Lab stands against all forms of oppression, including racism, transphobia, classism, sexism, and xenophobia.  We commit to focused and sustained action to dismantle racist systems, policies, practices, and ideologies within ourselves and our networks. As we continue to learn about injustice, we embrace radical reorientation of our consciousness and will listen to the voices of Black, Brown, Indigenous, and marginalised peoples to catalyse equitable outcomes for all.
