What is a B Local Community?
B Locals are place-based communities of people using business as a force for good. At the core of every B Local are Certified B Corporations — for-profit companies that use the power of business to create a shared and durable prosperity for all. Led by passionate volunteers, B Locals exist to create connections, increase the positive impact of their B Corp community, and raise awareness of the B Economy. How are B Locals Different from B Lab?
With feedback and insight from the B Corp community, B Lab - a non-profit organization headquartered in Pennsylvania - sets the vision for the B Corp movement and the strategy to achieve that vision. B Lab also confers the certification that allows companies to call themselves “Certified B Corporations.”
B Local communities are independently run organizations or committees - most commonly led by volunteer boards that work in closely with the B Lab team. These B Local Leaders serve as shepherds of their local B Corp communities - often organizing events, leading awareness initiatives, building partnerships, and providing learning opportunities for companies and people in their region.
B Lab currently supports over 150 B Local Leaders. Are you a B Local leader or want to get involved? Contact b-local@bcorporation.net.
