Anuradha Chugh and Amy Clarke appointed as Co-Chairs of B Lab UK’s board
Mary Johnstone-Louis shares reflections from her time as Chair and passes the baton

Between 2021 and 2025, B Lab UK and the global B Corp movement have seen extraordinary progress and much to celebrate. The number of certified B Corps in the UK has grown fivefold, from 500 in 2021 to more than 2,500 today.
In 2022, we celebrated 1,000 UK B Corps in an all-out celebration at London's Natural History Museum. That felt like a milestone, but just two years later, in 2024, we doubled that number and welcomed B Corps worldwide to mark the occasion in Oxford with Louder Than Words.
It was an unforgettable moment that saw every corner of our community come together to exchange ideas and take stock of the incredible journey we’ve been on together.

We also saw the launch of the Better Business Act, a campaign backed by 3,000 UK businesses with strong cross-party support in Westminster. The coalition has grown tenfold since 2021 and now includes businesses in more than 15 sectors, including technology, finance, insurance, and science — a testament to how B Corps have led the way and inspired a reimaging of how business should behave.
From Scotland to Wales, Northern Ireland and all over England, the UK is now teeming with examples of B Corps demonstrating leadership and innovation in improving jobs, advocacy, and business performance.
B Corps serve to show other businesses, policymakers and the wider public that better business isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s also the smart thing to do.

Globally, the number of certified B Corps has doubled since 2021 and recently surpassed 10,000. This year, B Lab launched our new standards, raising the bar once again for what business can accomplish when it acts as a force for good.
We have worked more closely and collaboratively as a global network than ever before. I know we will continue to build on this progress as we seek to scale our collective impact as a movement to achieve the cultural and legislative change we need to see.
I joined B Lab UK as Board Chair in 2021. It has been an honour to support the UK leadership team and global B Corp community through a period of remarkable growth and change. I have seen the UK team go from strength to strength, building a compelling strategy, thriving team culture and strong foundations for the future.
Beyond the UK, I have worked closely with B Lab Global and the Board Chairs of our global partners in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. I co-chaired our global gathering of Board Chairs and served on the Global Board's Nominations Committee. I'm incredibly proud to call the people I have worked with along the way my colleagues, collaborators and friends.
Finally, building our board of brilliant B Lab UK trustees is one of my greatest personal joys. Two of them, Amy Clarke and Anuradha Chugh, are the dream team Co-Chairs to whom I pass the baton of Chair of B Lab UK. Their global careers, values-driven approach to leadership, and deep understanding of B Corps’ crucial place in the world make them the perfect team to lead our next chapter.
As you read their own words about taking on the role, I think you'll agree:

“I’m delighted to be stepping into the Co-Chair role at B Lab UK with Anuradha. As the co-founder of a UK B Corp, and having had the privilege of serving as a trustee, I feel a deep connection with this community. It goes without saying that we are filling some big shoes! Mary has helped lead this organisation with grace, wisdom, and humility. We are thrilled she is staying on as a trustee and thank her from the bottom of our hearts for all she has helped us achieve.
Anu and I have known each other for some time and bring complementary skills and experiences to our new roles. We look forward to helping lead B Lab UK through this exciting period of change and evolution.” — Amy Clarke

“It is an exciting time for the B Corp movement; we have more consumers and businesses on board, and we continue to raise the bar with new standards launching earlier this year. It is a privilege to work alongside Amy and our dedicated and experienced board of trustees as we continue to support the B Lab UK team and the B Corp community across the country.” — Anuradha Chugh
