B Corp x Channel 4: Business as a force for good goes mainstream on TV

What happens when prime-time TV meets business as a force for good? A Channel 4 partnership that brings B Corp Certification to millions, with the potential to spark a ripple effect far beyond the ad break

The word is out…we’re partnering with Channel 4 to bring B Corp Certification to living rooms across the UK.

This September, we’re leveraging the power of advertising to enable five B Corps to communicate their positive impact to a mass audience, with an airtime package worth £120,000 each.

This partnership is all about spotlighting purpose-led brands that are doing amazing things, but haven’t had a chance to advertise on TV before. And it’s not just a milestone for the five businesses who will see their stories aired; it’s a moment of visibility for the entire B Corp movement.

With over 2,600 certified B Corps in the UK (and counting), the community is demonstrating that business as a force for good can go hand in hand with profitability and long-term success. By shining a primetime spotlight on these stories, our hope is that this initiative will amplify the message that purposeful business is no longer a niche, it’s the future — at the same time as building public awareness and understanding of B Corp Certification amongst audiences across the UK.

Let’s rewind for a second…how did we choose our five amazing B Corp winners?

Back in March, we kicked off B Corp Month celebrations with the exciting announcement of our competition with Channel 4 to bring B Corps to the world of TV.

After a six-week application window, we received almost 200 submissions from the B Corp community — full of brilliant pitches, impact stories and business plans. These written applications were carefully judged against a set of commercial, creative and impact criteria by the Channel 4 team and some members of B Lab UK.

Ten shortlisted B Corps, ten judges and one round of in-person pitching later… The winning five B Corps will be hitting the small screen this Thursday (25th September)!
