Our economic 'operating system' needs upgrading
B Lab UK has always advocated for business as a force for good and as we prepare for post-pandemic recovery, we wanted to hear from the public about their attitudes towards our current economic system, and the role of business in addressing our profound economic, societal and planetary challenges.
In May, we commissioned a UK public opinion poll in partnership with ReGenerate, and heard from 2,175 respondents spanning all age groups and political affiliations.
The results are fascinating...
and show that the vast majority of the UK public believe that business can and should be a force for good. See below for the key findings from those that expressed opinions about the role of business:

76% of the UK public think business should have a legal responsibility to the planet and people, alongside maximising profits.

The majority of the UK public would favour brands that are doing good in the world.
