Katie King-Smith

Katie is a Sustainability Consultant at Philosophy, specialising in helping businesses navigate certification and recertification under the new B Corp Standards.

Her approach brings B Corp together with wider sustainability strategy. Acting as a challenging but pragmatic critical friend, Katie helps businesses look beyond certification to understand their impacts, challenge their ambitions and identify meaningful opportunities to become better businesses. She provides end-to-end support, from initial gap analysis and interpreting requirements through to action planning, evidence development and preparation for audit.

Alongside B Corp, Katie’s consulting experience spans carbon footprinting and reduction planning, double materiality assessments, stakeholder engagement, ESG policy development and sustainability benchmarking. She has worked with organisations ranging from purpose-led SMEs and social enterprises to large multinational businesses, bringing an analytical, practical and collaborative approach to each project.

Katie is also actively involved in the wider B Corp movement through B Local Oxfordshire+, helping bring businesses together to share knowledge and put the new Standards into practice. She holds a degree in Environmental Studies from Yale University and began her sustainability career working on conservation, climate resilience and community engagement projects in Belize and Honduras.
