Phil Clarke

Phil is a highly experienced environmental consultant and co-founder of Philosophy Consulting. He was previously trained as a “B Leader” by B Lab UK in 2021, and has worked directly with more than 30 clients on their B Corp journeys, and at the least same again via B Corp group/cohort programmes he has supported in Cornwall. He served as a Co-Chair of the Cornwall B Local for three years and is a regular speaker at B Corp events.

Phil has 35 years of consultancy experience and 16 years in the sustainability space following his Environmental Studies degree (1991). He is an expert in guiding companies through complex projects such as B Corp, challenging clients to be the best they can, acting as a critical friend as necessary to ensure the integrity of the process.

He sees B Corp as a journey for a company, not just a destination, helping businesses look beyond simple certification to understand their real purpose and impacts, and to challenge their ambitions and identify meaningful opportunities to become better businesses.

A carbon expert, Phil has developed more than 100 carbon footprints, using these to help clients develop impact and relevant targets, net zero strategies and carbon action/reduction plans.

Phil led Capgemini UK’s environment programme, including establishing an ambitious Net Positive target, before founding Consciam (a certified B Corp) in 2015. Phil lives in Cornwall where he loves to spend time in, on or close to the sea.
