Why shop B Corp?

Want to shop consciously to make an impact? B Corps are businesses that benefit people and the planet. Learn what they are and how to find them.

B Corps are businesses that think boldly, act for change and demand a better future by meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

There are over 9,500 B Corps in the world, and companies that have achieved the certification include Patagonia, innocent drinks, Tony’s Chocolonely, and many more. In fact, there are over 930,000 people working for a B Corp, so it’s likely you know someone that works for a B Corp too.

How do businesses certify?

The process to achieve a B Corp certification is rigorous and B Corps are encouraged to improve their impact continuously - no business is perfect after all. Key areas that the assessment focuses on are: a company's governance, workers, customers, the local community, and the environment. The process includes:

  • A detailed assessment across the five key areas

  • Meeting the legal requirement

  • Verification

  • Impact reporting

  • Recertification every three years to ensure continuous improvement and impact
