Go Beyond the Basics of B Corp Certification with our latest course
Kyle Soo, B Lab UK’s partnerships & product manager, shares more about our latest B Corp training course
The growth of the B Corp movement in the UK has been staggering. Since I joined B Lab UK back in 2021, the UK community has grown to over 2,300 businesses and we now see over 1,000 people in the country using our B Impact Assessment daily to measure what matters most.
Of course, this increase in interest comes with challenges. For many businesses, even getting started on the journey is hard and can be overwhelming, confusing and scary. It’s easy to lose momentum and disengage especially when there are competing demands on time and energy.
At B Lab UK, our product strategy centres on people who need the tools, resources and support to engage meaningfully with our standards through the B Impact Assessment and who aspire to become thriving B Corps.
Last year we launched ‘Behind the B: an introduction to the B Corp movement’, our first foray into online training, providing a 90-minute overview of what it means to be a B Corp and how to get started with our tools. So far, over 300 people have signed up and we’ve had incredible feedback from people who enjoyed hearing the stories from our community and hearing from our team provide expert guidance.
As a first step, Behind the B demonstrated a desire for easily accessible and on-demand help for businesses. But we know it just scratched the surface and we needed to go further to support those who want to go deeper and have guidance on the more technical and practical side of the B Corp process.
So we’re really excited to launch our new course Beyond the Basics: A Deep Dive into the B Corp Movement. This new course provides an in-depth exploration of the B Corp movement, featuring insights from the B Lab UK team and B Corps about making the most of the B Impact Assessment.
It’s especially for UK businesses who want to use the B Impact Assessment tool effectively, for UK consultants who are developing skills and knowledge to help businesses on the B Corp journey and for existing B Corps looking to recertify on the existing standards.
The course includes:
- Over 6 hours of content, including 2.5 hours of video content, practical exercises, case studies and stories from B Corps and consultants in the community like Finisterre, Diversifying and Colart.
- Expert guidance curated by B Lab UK’s Analysts who have reviewed the assessments of hundreds of businesses on the B Corp journey, deep-diving into topics such as setting up a B Corp project team, using the B Impact Assessment tool effectively, navigating impact business models and making the most of your certification.
- A bonus section on how the B Impact Assessment and B Corp Certification process can be incorporated into consultancy services from seasoned consultants at Business on Purpose and Brnd People who are already engaged in these types of services.
To ensure this course is as financially accessible as possible, we have two pricing levels for smaller and larger businesses, as well as a discount offer for businesses wishing to train five or more team members. For existing B Corps and B Leaders, alternative pricing options are also available. For more information, check out the course page.
Please note that the course has been developed for the existing B Corp standards which will remain in place until 2026 when the new B Corp standards will take effect. Our current guidance encourages businesses wishing to become a B Corp to continue on the existing standards and to use resources like these to prepare for certification.
Acknowledgements
In the spirit of interdependence, we could not have built this course without the support and inspiration from our colleagues at B Lab Europe and B Lab AANZ, as well as the extensive group of team members, pilot testers and guides who have given up their time and expertise to shape this course and put it through its paces. Thank you!
Next steps
The launch of this course is a really exciting milestone in our work to realise B Lab UK’s strategy of creating an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system.
Of course we’re not stopping there. With the new B Corp standards coming into force in 2026 and our mission to make every UK business a force for good, we need to continue developing new products to support this work. Keep an eye out as we test and tinker over the next few weeks and months!
In the meantime, if you have any questions or feedback about the course, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us via training@bcorporation.uk
