B Lab UK adds board member to the Board of Trustees

Anuradha Chugh joins the B Lab UK board

In December 2023, experienced B Corp leader Anuradha Chugh was inducted onto B Lab UK’s Board of Trustees for a three year term. Anuradha and Chair of the Board of Trustees, Mary Johnstone-Louis, share more on the appointment.

The UK B Corp movement has grown rapidly in recent years with businesses of all shapes, sizes, and sectors joining the community. To continue on this trajectory at the rate and scale needed to transform the economic system for the better, the B Lab UK board also needs to reflect a range of voices and perspectives that will help us make the case for business as a force for good.

Last year, we welcomed several new trustees to our board. Nicola Clark OBE, George King IV, and Thom Kenrick in February and Pip Murray, founder of Pip & Nut, in May. Now, we’re delighted to introduce our latest member, former CEO of Pukka Herbs and former managing director of Ben & Jerry’s, Anuradha Chugh.

Mary Johnstone Louis, chair of the B Lab UK board says:

“We are thrilled to welcome Anuradha Chugh to the board of B Lab UK. Anuradha brings deep experience leading companies as they seek to deliver on their growth and impact strategies. Effective and ambitious for good, she is widely recognised as a leader whose work is characterised by courage, creativity, and collaboration. We look forward to bringing her insights into the work of the board.”

Anuradha spoke about her reasons for joining the board:

“I recently came across a quote by chemist and Nobel laureate, I.Prigogine, that resonated with my experience leading two B Corps.

‘When a system is far from equilibrium small islands of coherence in a sea of chaos have the capacity to lift the entire system to a higher order.’

While this is true, I believe that we need continents to shift and islands are just not enough. B Corps have the potential to drive entire ecosystems to a sustainable state. I am excited to join B Lab UK board and support to grow and strengthen this B Corp movement.”
